The MaritimeTwin Project
Maritime emissions reduction through digital twin and satellite technology integration.
Maritime emissions reduction through digital twin and satellite technology integration.
The MaritimeTwin project, developed by IDRIC, CGI, and Maritime UK will deliver an innovative digital twin and satellite technology solution for the maritime sector, focused on vessel route optimisation and environmental impact assessment.
The digital twin will provide shipping operators with a powerful tool to simulate various scenarios, with an outcome of allowing data-driven decisions that balance operational efficiency with environmental impact. This features the innovative incorporation of real-time environmental data, including weather patterns, ocean currents, and port conditions. Crucially, it will have the ability to continuously learn and offer more precision through machine-learning algorithms.
The project, backed by UK Government funding, aims to cut shipping emissions in the Maritime sector by up to 15% by helping vessels choose smarter, greener routes – supporting the UK’s Clean Maritime Plan and net-zero goals.
