Green Shipping Corridors (GSCs) represent the most practical near-term mechanism for delivering measurable maritime emissions reductions across UK routes by 2030 and creating scalable pathways to 2040–2050 net zero targets. This whitepaper, produced by IDRIC in partnership with CGI and Maritime UK through the MaritimeTwin Innovate UK project, synthesises the impact opportunities, UK corridor mapping plans, and proposed delivery and financing frameworks for establishing green corridors across UK waters.
The IDRIC GSCs white paper proposes a delivery and financing blueprint for UK GSCs. Key recommendations include establishing a Green Corridor Delivery Office, expanding digital infrastructure funding, aligning digital MRV with UK ETS, piloting corridor fuel contracts‑for‑difference, and embedding governance best practice and community benefits.
