Workshop
Beyond local acceptance: delivering a place-based just transition in industrial clusters
This workshop introduced the Place-based Just Transition Framework, offering guidelines on potential gaps, trade-offs, and action plans for policymakers, cluster developers, and local stakeholders in delivering a socially fair, place-sensitive industrial decarbonisation. The session provided an opportunity to explore and discuss how stakeholders from industry, government and civil society can use this ‘actionable knowledge’ to collaborate with their host communities on the journey toward net zero

Workshop
Harnessing early career researchers to achieve net zero in industry
This workshop focused on how to harness the high-level skills of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers to address gaps in the push towards net zero goals. We invited early career researchers, industry representatives and senior academics to discuss how to maximise this potential and position these individuals for leadership roles in the industry’s efforts to decarbonise.
Workshop
Co-creating pathways for industrial decarbonisation through research & innovation
This interactive workshop session was designed for our whole community to co-develop IDRIC’s future research agenda. We wanted to ensure our stakeholders, from across the industrial decarbonisation ecosystem, had the opportunity to shape the research & innovation required to accelerate the delivery of net zero industry in the UK.

Workshop
Does one plus one always equal two? Carbon accounting for a circular economy
This workshop explored the complexities of carbon accounting, addressing the challenges faced by industry in accounting across complex supply chains and variations between countries and clusters. The session featured IDRIC’s work in this area and encouraged participants to share thoughts and experiences, helping us to take it to the next level.

Workshop
Mapping the green hydrogen supply chain: current challenges and future opportunities
This workshop was designed to bring together industry professionals and academics who are interested or engaged in the green hydrogen supply chain, particularly within industrial clusters. Its focus spanned green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, utilisation, and distribution. It also encompassed critical discussions on regulation, policymaking, and the integration of green hydrogen within existing and future energy systems. Participants had the opportunity to engage in a rich dialogue on the pressing challenges confronting the green hydrogen supply chain and to collaboratively explore visionary directions for future development.

Workshop
Will industrial decarbonisation produce resilient communities?
This panel discussion explored public responses to industrial decarbonisation in the face of global uncertainties. It emphasised the importance of engaging local communities to co-create effective pathways for change, offering insights valuable to industry representatives and policymakers, as well as academics. The session considered possible recommendations for stakeholders interested in the research, encouraging audience participation.
