Research and Innovation Agenda for Net Zero Industries
February 2026
This report identifies the research and innovation needed to support the decarbonisation of UK industry. Drawing on extensive engagement with IDRIC stakeholders, it synthesises and consolidates collective and actionable insights from across industrial clusters and dispersed sites. The Research and Innovation Agenda for Net Zero Industries sets out the key research and innovation priorities across technology, environment and sustainability, and society and economy. It also identifies the enablers required to deliver at pace, including knowledge exchange, skills and policy, alongside the funding mechanisms, structures and delivery models needed to support innovation uptake and real-world impact. The report provides a shared evidence base to help align future research, investment and decision-making in support of industrial net zero.
