Thermochemical splitting of CO2 on perovskites for CO production: A review

Journal of Energy Chemistry

March 2024

This paper explores how thermochemical CO2 splitting, a process driven by heat, can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by converting captured CO2 into carbon monoxide (CO), which can then be reused. A key focus is on perovskite-based materials, which act as catalysts in this process. The review examines recent advancements in improving efficiency, stability, and cost-effectiveness, highlighting new materials such as double and composite perovskites. It also discusses how integrating CO2 splitting with other industrial processes could make the technology more viable for the future, offering a potential pathway towards sustainable carbon recycling.
