Evaluation of Coriolis meter performance for flow and density measurement of supercritical CCS fluids

SSN

January 2025

This paper examines the accuracy of Coriolis meters in measuring the mass flow and density of CO2 under high-pressure conditions, which are applicable to carbon capture and storage (CCS). Researchers tested the meters using different CO2 mixtures. The results show that flow measurements were highly accurate and met regulatory standards, but density measurements for CO2 with impurities had some discrepancies. This is mainly due to the significant impact of impurities on the pressure and temperature effects on the density. The study highlights key challenges in CCS monitoring and provides insights to improve measurement techniques and regulations for safe and efficient CO2 transport.
