Enhancement strategies of calcium looping technology and CaO-based sorbents for carbon capture

Small

April 2025

This paper explores ways to improve materials used in calcium looping, a promising technology for capturing carbon emissions and generating cleaner energy. Over time, these materials lose their effectiveness, so this study reviews over 1,000 examples to identify what helps them last longer and perform better. It highlights key methods and ingredients that boost performance, such as sol-gel synthesis and the use of certain chemicals. The paper also looks at how artificial intelligence could help design better materials in future, even when data is limited, paving the way for more sustainable industrial use.
