Feasibility of ammonia-to-hydrogen network in the Humber Cluster

IDRIC Project FF 4-10

Dr Eni Oko

Principal Investigator

Newcastle University

Aim

The overall aim of this project is to demonstrate the feasibility of an ammonia-to-hydrogen network for decarbonizing clustered heavy industries, with the Humber region as an exemplar, based on the techno-economic, safety and environmental performance. The proposed ammonia-to-hydrogen network for the Humber cluster consists of ammonia pipelines from proposed production/import sites to the vicinity of the end-user heavy industries where ammonia will be ‘cracked’ to obtain hydrogen.
