Visual intelligence and industrial decarbonisation in South Wales

IDRIC Project FF 1-6

Prof Nick Pidgeon

Principal Investigator

Cardiff University

Aim

This project builds on the IDRIC project MIP 1.5 Understanding public responses to industrial decarbonisation in insecure times, to provide better information for stakeholders to support the environmental permitting & planning processes in Wales. The focus is on public understanding of proposed and actual energy visions and technological changes in partnership with Net Zero Industry Wales in support of the South Wales Industrial Cluster. Public perceptions (often derived from visual media) mediate industry and governance responses to change and are therefore capable of intervening in what and how change occurs.
The project therefore responds to, and supports, the need for publics to be informed and consulted about change so that NZIW & SWIC can achieve decarbonisation.
